Mothers' Day weekend

We have had a fun weekend! Saturday started out rainy and cold... perfect night for Family Movie Night. Unfortunately the afternoon got away from us which caused naps to start late and run late... before we knew it, it was 7:30 and Mommy and Luke were just coming home with dinner and the movie. We were quite sure Luke would fall asleep sometime during Alvin and the Chipmunks, but he held out until 10:00. He and Daddy woke Mommy up and we finally all made it to bed.

We were up early for church with Grandma and Grandpa, then over to Mick and Michelle's for brunch. How we managed to forget that Riley would need a nap around 9:00 is beyond me. She couldn't possibly fall asleep with all the excitement around. Luke faded fast, too, so we headed home around 10:30 and everyone laid down for an early (or in Riley's case, late) nap.

Early naps left lots of time for fun this afternoon! We went to Home Depot and Menards, then worked in the yard. Luke enjoyed playing "garbage man" with all of the weeds Mommy pulled. Riley liked the sun, the wind and watching the rest of us work! Lucky for us, the neighbors stopped by on their walk and work time was over. Luke and Allison began making "yucckky soup". (In case you were wondering, it's even yuckier than stone soup.) I can vouch for it's grossness... I personally witnessed worms, rocks, dirt, grass, weeds and even a little "girl spit" make their way into the bucket. When it was done, they dumped it over the back fence to feed the bugs. Perfect!
