Johnson's Cabin/Breezy Point 2012

We had another fun weekend on the "McHugh Family Lakes Tour- 2012".  We started the weekend with a Friday afternoon drive up to the Johnson's cabin on Battle Lake.  The lake water was so warm thanks to the hot, hot weather we've had the past few weeks.  The lake was the perfect depth for Luke to dive for torpedoes with Dane.  Riley enjoyed playing with sand in the shallow end. That evening we celebrated Curtis' birthday with DQ ice cream cake.  Bedtime was a challenge with all 3 of the kids together in the new "bunk room", but after the adults retired to the porch, the kids realized that they had lost their captive audience and finally fell asleep. We managed to fit in more swimming and even rides on the jet ski before leaving on Saturday and giving our great hosts a reprieve.

 We met up with Grandma Dort, Grandpa Jim and Carley at Breezy Point on Saturday evening.  We enjoyed  our annual bike trip from Pequot Lakes to Nevis on the Paul Bunyon Trail with Carley.  Luke handled the 14-mile ride with relative ease and we're eager to take longer trips with the kids in the future.  We also enjoyed time at the beach, paddling in kayaks and the canoe, playing cards with G & G, and enjoying all that the resort has to offer.  Our trip ended with a surprise trip to the hospital with Grandma Dort.  After extensive testing, it was determined that she had a virus that was giving her heart and lungs trouble.  An underlying aorta problem was also identified and while the prospect of surgery is scary, we feel lucky that it was discovered in time to prevent a serious health crisis.  We're looking forward to a less eventful Breezy Point vacation next summer!  :)
