Bonkers for banana bread

When I was in kindergarten, we made a class cookbook as a gift for our families. (I must point out that, despite Nana's later cookbook fame, I was actually the first in the family to publish a recipe.) The kindergarten cookbook was full of crazy ingredient lists, improper cooking instructions, and a few primitive illustrations.

Every time a banana shows a spot at our house, Luke immediately lobbies to make it into banana bread. He's been baking with me for almost 3 years and if given a similar cookbook experience when he enters school next year, I'm certain he would nail his recipe page. Aside from cracking the eggs and using the electric mixer, he's pretty capable of making the batter himself. Always a double batch, though. Riley loves eating banana bread as much as Luke does!
