Daddy's Triathalon

Months and months of training were put to the test on Daddy's big triathalon day. This is the second year he's competed in the St. Paul Triathalon. Last year he did the short course, this year the long. That means he swam for 1 mile, biked for 25 miles and ran 6.2 miles. (It makes Mom tired just thinking about it!). His goal was to finish under 3 hours and he CRUSHED it, finishing in 2 hours and 40 minutes. Since the gun went off at 7:30 am, the rest of us opted to arrive after he was well into the race. Luckily, we got there in time to root him on his last 3 mile lap of the run. One might think it would be difficult to spot Dad with the hundreds of people milling around but actually, it's surprisingly easy to spot a 6'6" athlete amongst all the others. :)

As Dad approached the finish line, he invited Luke to cross it with him. He's made his desire for Luke to race with him one day no secret. Perhaps that was just the ticket to give Luke the "triathalon bug"?

By the way, Dan placed first in his division and won a fabulous medal for the kids to play with. :)
