26 month update

It's time for me to write stuff down so I don't forget someday. (Call this the baby book portion of the blog.)

At 26 months, Luke:
  • Has started to gallop. Not sure if it's something he's working on in school or if he just picked it up.
  • Can ride a standing scooter (the kind where you push off with one leg) at school.
  • Spins himself around and around just to make himself laugh. He says, "dizzy" in sort of a slurred voice (I know what you're probably thinking, but no, he doesn't have a drinking problem.) and then he falls down and belly laughs. Repeat.
  • Sings and sings and sings. He's started making up his own lyrics... usually events from the day that he repeats over and over to a familiar tune. Yesterday it was a song about going to Annie's (his teacher) house sung to the tune of "It's raining, it's pouring".
  • Enjoys singing Ring Around the Rosy, It's Raining It's Pouring, Old MacDonald, and Have Patience Have Patience.
  • Tells Mommy to "Turn off the music" when he doesn't want to hear her sing.
  • Refers to random objects and says, "Daddy made that, Mommy." Tonight it was his new footed pajamas. Who knew Daddy could sew?
  • Still says, "NOOOO! Lukie do it!" to just about everything you try to help him with.
  • Washes his hands all by himself. He has to turn on the water, pump the soap, rub, rinse and dry his hands by himself. He's still mastering his face.
  • Given a choice at meal time, it's almost always peanut budder and jelly samich. He also refers to all meals as breakfast.
  • Refers to himself as Lukie and subsequently has everyone at school calling him Lukie too.
  • Notices everything. He's especially attune to motorcycles, bobcats, pickups, school buses, airplanes, boats and lakes. He even asked, "Where Mommy's glasses go?" this morning on the way to school. I wore my glasses yesterday but put in new contacts this morning.
  • Has begun displaying more affection. He's able to give gentle kisses on the lips and always says, "ooooooohhhhhh" when giving a hug. This has become his standard goodbye procedure to almost anyone he leaves.
  • Pitches a fit if we don't eat supper by 5 pm. He's so hungry after a long day at school!

I'm sure there's more... I'll save the rest for the 27 months update. :)

And did I hear that one morning when you had to wake Luke for school because he was so exhausted, he said, "Turn off the sun, Mommy." What a tough morning to get up!
It's fun to see a condensed run down of all that he's doing. Somehow we think we will never forget, but your disciplined accounts are such a treasure.
