Ooh! Chuck E. Cheese...

A couple of weeks ago, Cousin Vaughn became obsessed with the idea of going to Chuck E. Cheese after seeing a fabulously persuasive commercial on tv.  Having not been to a Chuck E. Cheese for over 10 years, Dan and I thought it might be fun to join the Hessburgs on this outing.

The games began almost immediately.  Luke's fun in the net-enclosed jungle gym ended when he couldn't quite clear the top platform and panic overtook his entire body.  While the netting is great for keeping kids from falling to the ground, it also blocks  a tall parent from reaching in to help a child in distress.  Luckily, 2 older girls were able to rescue Luke (in total, 3 times) by lifting him off of the platform he was clinging to and lowering him the inch he needed to reach the safety of the next platform.  Suffice to say, this was less of a play opportunity for Luke and more of a survival training.  Both Mommy and Daddy were impresses with his strong fingers and will to live.  We feel pretty confident that he could wait out most rescue attempts should he ever find himself clinging for life on the side of a cliff.

After that fiasco, we stuck to kiddy rides downstairs.  They seemed to be more Luke's speed.  He enjoyed winning tickets, even though he had no idea what they were for.  Now at home, he continues to play pretend games and bring Mommy the pretend tickets that he's won for his efforts.

After a couple hours, Mommy's, Daddy's and Luke's eyes were glazed over.  It was time to leave Chuck E. Cheese behind.  Dan and I are quietly hoping we don't have to venture back for another 10 years.  :)

Ouch! Do you still have your fingers, Luke? Or are you feeding him pizza?

Looks fun to me, I don't think you want to wait 10 more years.
