Jesse James Days 2009

We ventured to Northfield for The Defeat of Jesse James Days on September 13. We started off watching a re-enactment of the bank robbery and gunfight on Main Street. The blanks fired by the actors were loud and probably not the best idea for young children. We did our best to protect them by inserting earplugs and using Daddy's special technique for protecting ears. :) Afterward, we hit the food vendors for lots of good eats (imagine the state fair minus fried pickles). Then we were excited for the amusement rides after the fun time we had at the state fair a couple weeks earlier. Unfortunately, we hit the rides at nap time and Luke turned into a chicken. Once on the ride, he was fine. In fact, the dragon ride that he and Mommy went on was one of the most adventurous at the carnival. We spun and spun and spun the little "table" and found ourselves whipping around faster than any other dragon on the ride. Mommy was even a little dizzy once the ride stopped and we got back on solid ground. Luke emerged from the dragon with a big smile and ran to Daddy and Grandma to tell them how his big muscles spun Mommy around sooooooo fast.

After that, it was time to leave. As our van pulled away from the festival, Luke stared out the window with eyes that were already half closed. He managed to point out the window with a limp finger and state, "There are the rides I didn't want to go on." :) Can't wait for next year.
