Luke's first sleepover!

The teachers at Luke's school are either certifiably crazy or total saints. The jury is still out. Either way, Luke enjoyed his first "real" sleepover on Friday night. We dropped him off at 6:00pm along with at least 30 other parents and prayed for the best. (Riley had to get one last tackle in before he left!) For my own piece of mind, I had reminded him on at least 3 separate occasions that if he had to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, he should definitely go. His teachers wouldn't be angry with him for getting up! I didn't want him to be remembered by his classmates as the kid who peed in his sleeping bag! (Hmmm... wonder if I'm repressing a bad memory from childhood?)
Luke was so excited to spend the night with his friends at school. They ate pizza and danced and danced and danced. Apparently the teachers staged a mini-prom and the boys had to ask a girl, "would you like to dance?". According to Luke, "Of course all the girls said 'yes', Mom." They settled in to their sleeping bags around 9:30ish. Can you imagine trying to get 30+ kids to brush their teeth and go potty? Luke got to sleep near the fireplace which kept him toasty warm.
We asked Luke if he was one of the first ones up in the morning. His 3-minute response to our question mentioned something about teachers waking up the class but kids having a choice to keep sleeping, Luke trying to find his sock, kids eating cereal, Luke digging down in his sleeping bag, some kids sleeping, Luke giving up on finding his sock, the teachers asking if anyone else wanted to get up, Luke eating a donut and cereal. If you're totally confused, don't worry. So were we.
It was a wildly successful sleepover. Luke had a blast, the teachers looked great the next morning (considering they probably got no sleep), and the sleeping bag was dry! Wonder if they want to do it again next Friday night? :)

Good for Luke. You prepared him better for an overnight than we prepared you. I see he remembered to bring Bear-Bear along.
