I couldn't resist posting these pictures for a couple of reasons. My mom doesn't typically wear pink skirt outfits around the house, but this one has a special story. A few days before Riley was born, my mom's college roommate visited from Tennessee. She packed 2 very special items in her bags. The first was this pink outfit. Apparently, Nanna had borrowed it from her to wear on Nanna's first date with II. Nanna's roommate had saved it since college and thought Nanna would like to try it on again! They also tested II's memory (unfortunately he didn't remember it from their first date. Probably because he was so focused on Nanna's beauty?). The second item was an extra special gift made just for Riley. Nanna's roommate had just enough scrap fabric left over from the original dress to make Riley a taggie blanket. Look closely, it's draped over the top of Riley. Can you imagine her keeping the fabric all of these years (no offense... but it has been a while since Nanna was in college!) and thinking of making such a meaningful gift for our baby? It will forever be a keepsake and a wonderful reminder that the most thoughtful gifts aren't always found on a gift registry.
