We had a GREAT time with Nanna and II at the Minnesota State Fair! The addition of another little body slowed us down a little from our typical 6 am start, but we were still on the fairgrounds by 8 am. The light rain kept the draft horses in the barn a little later than usual, so we were able to catch a few of them being exercised down the street before the big crowds arrived. We were at the fair for about 7 hours. You'd think we would have seen lots of displays and attractions in that time, but between eating, fair rides, changing diapers, eating and walking up and down the street, we didn't see as much as usual. Riley was still at the "slow eater" stage and the distractions of the fair didn't help the cause too much. It's amazing what a difference a couple weeks makes... she's eating so much faster lately and as long as she gives a few good belches (she can burp louder than most adults!), she's content.
Luke also make some big strides from last year. He showed much more interest in the carnival rides, finding particular interest in driving the bumper boats. He was also much faster at pounding down the mini donuts this year than last. Looks like we're going to have to buy him his own bag on future trips to the fair. As long as he stays away from Mommy's fried pickles, we'll all get along just fine. :)
