Medora Madness

We spent the weekend in Medora, ND, with Grandma and Grandpa McHugh. We were inspired to return after our first attempt at the musical 2 years ago was a cold, windy, rainout. This weekend wasn't much better, but the skies managed to part on Saturday evening and we enjoyed a great night. Highlights of the trip included: eating donuts from Sandys in West Fargo, Luke driving the lawn tractor at II and Nanna's farm, enjoying the scenery of western North Dakota (including the mounds of steak at the pitchfork fondue), and watching Luke bolt down the stairs to stand on stage with the "performers". We told Luke when we arrived at the ampitheater that Daddy had taken him down to the stage when he was 2. Luke immediately explained that now that he was almost 4 he would go down to the stage by himself. He was little when he was 2, but he isn't little like that anymore and now he can go down there alone because he's a big boy. Then he bounced in his seat (and on his toes) until the time in the show when children were invited down. He barely waited for the invitation before zipping down over 50 steps. It was significant for us to see because he is typically so tentative... he really earned the "big boy" title. :) Luke was so disappointed when the show was over... so he and Mommy headed down to the stage one last time to say hello to the stars of the show, Buffalo Alice and Buffalo Dale.

Riley had a good weekend, too. She stayed behind in Fargo to spend some quality time with Nanna and II. One thing is for sure, Riley kept them on their toes with her quick crawling. Nanna reported that she got plenty of snuggle time with Riley, too!
