One of the benefits of staying at home during the summer is witnessing Luke and Riley's "firsts". Today was a pretty fun day!
1. First trip to the zoo this summer. Riley was so engaged in the animals and all the kids running around her that she opted out of her morning nap. Luke went through "crawling tubes and caves" without getting scared. yeah!
2. Riley's first unassisted steps along the couch! She pulled herself up and took 5 steps toward Daddy! Such a big girl!
3. Riley's talking! When Riley got to Daddy and he pulled her up on his chest, she responded with, "Hi Da da". It was clear as day (according to her unbiased parents) and she said it several times. It was paired with her bright smile! Melt.
4. Luke's first solo phone conversation. We called Grandma to see if she wanted meet us at Dairy Queen for happy hour. Luke said, "Hi Grandma, do you want to meet us at Dairy Queen?" Then he repeated his question to make sure Grandma understood. Then she asked, "Right now?" and Luke responded, "No, we'll be going at 3:00." When she confirmed, he said, "Okay, see you in a little bit. Bye!"
Over the past few days, Riley has been pulling herself up like CRAZY! She also likes to sit balanced on one leg while placing the other foot flat on the ground. It's like she's preparing to launch herself into the air at any moment. She's also perfected the phrase "I did it!!" Again, Mommy and Daddy might be biased, but it sounds crystal clear to us!
