July 10 was a day of great excitement at our house! "Little" Riley turned 1!!! The day started with the ceremonial turning of the car seat. Her first forward-facing outing was with Daddy and Luke to Home Depot (every girl's dream, right?). She smiled most of the way... clearly enjoying being a part of the world that everyone else was engaging in!
After naps, we had Riley's cake celebration. As soon as Mollie and Ryan arrived with Grandpa Jim, Riley was prepped for the feast. We could hardly wait to set the cake in front of Riley because all of us knew that she would throw herself into it. True to form, Riley did not disappoint! When Brother Luke got involved (thanks to Riley's wandering, sticky hands), we knew that getting them clean would require a total team effort (and some serious time in the shower)! When it was all said and done, Riley was a very happy one year old. Let it be known, any cake within arms reach doesn't stand a chance against this little girl!

What a likely progression...and you had your own clown when it was all over. She's obviously accomplished the intended drama and entertainment for birthday #1...way to go Riley!
