Zippety ZOO da!

We had an adventure-filled day on Saturday. Our morning started at the Room and Board outlet store (our first "zoo" of the day) where we had hoped to find a headboard for Luke's first bed. Currently the mattress and box spring are leaning against the wall in our guest room rather than in Luke's bedroom. We hoped to find a great deal like Nanna and II found when they shopped the outlet. No such luck. Mommy did enjoy walking through the warehouse of furniture and dreaming about owning lots of the pieces she found. Daddy told her that unless she won the lottery, she'd better keep dreaming. :)

After the quick shopping trip, we headed to St. Paul to spend a few hours at Como Zoo. The pictures show how much fun we had! Luke liked the primates, and got very excited when we found the gorilla (Goodnight, Gorilla is one of his favorite books!). He also attempted to scale the window to meet a tiger face-to-face. I'm sure the sleeping tiger seemed safe enough to Luke, but Mommy denied his pleas to help him get in the pen anyway. The photos can tell the rest of the story...

Welcome to Como Zoo and Conservatory

So happy!

One misguided young boy kept trying to convince us that the koi pond was really filled with carp.

Can you see the resemblance between Luke and the caged animal?

Stare down!

One of Luke's favorite attractions was his sucker.

Thumb's in the mouth. We're losing him...

Quick burst of energy at the giant turtle!

Only milliseconds later, Luke would lose his careful balance on the turtle and Mommy would come rushing in to catch him before he crashed to the ground.

A peaceful ride home. :)

I'm glad you got to enjoy one of these treasured fall days by going to the zoo. Sometime Nanna would like to go with you, but I bet I'd sleep on the way home too. What a lot of things to see...watching the animals is secondary to seeing the things Luke enjoys. We are looking forward to next week-end when we will get to see you in person.
Love,
Nanna

We have a copy of "Goodnight Gorilla" waiting in the bookshelf. Glad to hear it gets such a good endorsement!
