We decided that New Year's Eve was a great night to give Riley her first taste of rice cereal. By all accounts, we thought she was ready. She's nearly 6 months old, she's been eyeing us while we eat and she seems to want everything in her mouth. It didn't seem like such a stretch considering she's been drinking rice-based formula (suggested to ease acid-reflux) for months.
Obviously, we celebrated this milestone with a party. First, we decorated...
Luke donned his old Elmo costume for the occasion.
Riley in balloon heaven.
Riley's first attempt at eating cereal... unfortunately, it was Daddy's (and it tasted like cardboard).
Next, Riley attempted to eat her brother.
Then, she took a stab at the big spoon.
Before Riley could eat anything else, Luke helped prepare cereal for everyone!Luke: Yogurt Burst Cheerios
Daddy: Honey Nut Chex
Mommy: Red Berry Special K
Riley: plain old Rice Cereal

And the result... YUCK! Riley wanted nothing to do with rice cereal or her spoon! We'll try again in a few days. :)

Maybe she enjoys the entertainment more than the meal...or she's smart enough to know that she's not getting the same stuff from the same cardboard box as Mommy, Daddy, or Luke.
